Matrox Monarch HDX

The Matrox Monarch HDX device is a simple and versatile video encoding device designed specifically for broadcasters and webcasters who need a flexible and powerful solution for today's demanding webcasting and recording operations. The Monarch HDX device provides 3G SDI and HDMI inputs with frame synchronization to correct input dropouts and two independent H.264 encoders that can be assigned to individual tasks. Webcasting to YouTube and Facebook Live is easy with simplified setup for these popular platforms. All you need to do is pair the device with one of these accounts. It is automatically saved for later streams.

Powerful, high-quality H.264 encoding engine

The Monarch HDX can distribute an encoding capacity of up to 30 Mbps between the two channels. The powerful engine for scaling, de-interlacing and noise reduction is available to both channels and ensures that only first-class images are sent for encoding.

Simultaneous streaming and recording

The quality of your VOD downloads does not have to be determined by the available upload bandwidth. Monarch HDX dual encoders can simultaneously broadcast a live web stream at one bit rate and record mastering-quality H.264 files that are immediately available for post-event VOD or for editing with your preferred NLE system.

Easily webcast to your viewers

Monarch HDX can deliver live content to CDNs like YouTube, Facebook Live and Upstream, to media servers like Adobe Flash and Wowza, or directly to a computer or device on a LAN. A few simple steps are all it takes to configure the device and pair it with YouTube and Facebook accounts. As a Works with Wowza certified encoder, users can take advantage of advanced integration with the Wowza™ streaming engine via XML files or Wowza tokens. Monarch HDX also supports XML files generated for Flash Live Media Encoders.

Selectable HDMI and SDI inputs and simultaneous outputs

The H.264 VTR Monarch HDX can accept signals from HDMI or SDI sources. The input is selected via the Matrox Command Center web-based user interface or directly on the unit. This provides a wide range of connection options for devices such as cameras, switches, or routers. In addition, both inputs are equipped with internal image synchronizers that ensure uninterrupted streaming and recording, even if the input signals are affected by interference. For audio, you can also choose between the embedded video signal and the analog stereo input. Audio can be dynamically muted without affecting the video encoding.

Regardless of the input selected, SDI and HDMI video as well as embedded and analogue audio output are available. For SDI operations, the Monarch HDX recorder features ultra-low pass-through latency and built-in power-loss pass-through circuitry that routes the SDI input directly to the SDI output in the event of a power failure, ensuring signal path integrity and failover options.
