The new ExpressP2 card drive AU-XPD3 offers the highest available transmission speed *1 at 17.6 GBit/s. To achieve this exceptional performance, the drive has been specially designed for use of the expressP2 "B" series cards. The Thunderbolt 3 interface allows the high speed of the XPD3. This is eight times as high as with USB 3.0 and twice as high as with Thunderbolt 2.
The XPD3 card drive also allows daisy chains with up to six devices.
This provides an enormous time saving for users. The actual time saving with the new card drive was determined with the AU-XPD3 Beta + MacBook PRO 15 "Late 2016 and internal PCIe SSD.
Users of MacPro/Thunderbolt 2 benefit from the speed of the XPD3 thanks to an adapter from Thunderbolt 3 to 2. The speed of XPD3/Thunderbolt 2 when copying content is four times as high as with the XPD1/ USB3.0.
The AU-XPD3 supports expressP2 cards of the "A series" and the "B series". However, the maximum power is only achieved with "B-series" cards.
