The PVM-X2400 model is a high-end 24" 4K HDR image monitor with a Sony specified premium LCD display offering 1000 cd/m2 luminance and colour matching with the BVM-HX310 4K HDR reference monitor. This facilitates group monitoring on set, in the studio and OB van, and in 19" EIA racks for editing, sound mixing, etc.
TRIMASTER ensures accurate colour reproduction, precise imaging and consistent picture quality
Sony's renowned TRIMASTER architecture provides accurate colour reproduction, precise imaging and consistent picture quality. The panel's operation and signal processing system offers many advantages, such as fast processing, accurate linearisation of an input signal with optical electrical transfer function, accurate colour reproduction, etc.
Easy set-up for multiple monitors and easy maintenance
With firmware V3.0*, once you have set up one PVM-X2400, you can transfer these settings to other PVM-X3200, X2400 and X1800 units via USB memory stick, even if the screen sizes of the PVM-X series are different. This function minimises the configuration time for many units. The PVM-X2400 is additionally equipped with a software-based function for calibrating the colour temperature (white balance), the so-called "Monitor AutoWhiteAdjustment "**.
* Firmware update V3.0 will be available at a later date. Firmware V1.0 can be updated to V2.0 or higher via the monitor's USB port.
** Monitor AutoWhiteAdjustment V1.7 will be available at a later date.
HDR SDR Conversion Support
With V2.0 firmware and the optional PVML-HSX1 HDR-SDR conversion licence, the PVM-X2400 supports HDR-SDR conversion in live production environments. The licence enables: 4K HD down-conversion, colour space conversion, OETF conversion, progressive to interlace conversion and quad-link 3G to single-link 12G conversion. It also enables output of converted images to other 4K or HD monitors via Enhanced Monitor Output. This feature enables local or remote monitoring of converted signals. Licence activation can be done locally via USB memory, providing conversion functions on the current PVM-X2400 monitor (with upgrade to firmware version V2.0*)
* Firmware V1.0 can be upgraded to V2.0 or higher via the monitor's USB port.
Support for User 3D LUT Signal Output
V2.0* firmware and the optional PVML-HSX1 HDR SDR conversion licence also support output of signals with applied user 3D LUTs via Enhanced Monitor Output to other 4K/HD devices, enabling efficient workflows in live production, cinema, series, commercials, music and documentaries.
* Firmware V1.0 can be upgraded to V2.0 or higher via the monitor's USB port.
SR Live Metadata
Support for SR Live Metadata is planned as a standard feature for V2.0, allowing you to adjust the settings of the PVM-X2400 monitor to the incoming signal. You can also confirm the SR Live Metadata parameters for an incoming SDI signal in the status menu. This optimises the use of the monitor in SR Live workflows.
* Firmware V1.0 can be upgraded to V2.0 or higher via the monitor's USB port.
Dynamic Contrast Drive and Black Details High/Medium/Low
Dynamic Contrast Drive is a new backlight control system that dynamically changes the luminance of the backlight to adapt to changing content. This allows you to check the overall balance of highlights and dark highlights at a glance. The feature can be used to reproduce the representations of black in dark content such as night shots and provide specular highlights in bright content such as snow and beach scenes. The Dynamic Contrast Drive function provides a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.
Due to the nature of LCD panels, some backlight leakage is inevitable. To compensate for this, the Black Detail mode High/Medium/Low facilitates more accurate monitoring of details in dark areas of the picture. Black level is reduced, but gamma is maintained for the correct colour and grey levels. However, due to the dynamic range of the monitor, areas of high luminance are clipped. Any clipped parts can be displayed as clipped or highlighted with a zebra pattern. With the future firmware V3.0*, the capped parts can also be displayed by a curve.
* Firmware update V3.0 will be available from a later date. Firmware V1.0 can be updated to V2.0 or higher via the USB port of the monitor.
Inputs from 12G-SDI and Quad-Link 3G-SDI to HD-SDI as well as HDMI
The PVM-X2400 provides 12G-SDI inputs and can receive quad-link 3G-SDI and simple HD-SDI for conventional devices. The monitor also supports an HDMI port for displaying inputs with signal formats from 640 x 480/60P PC up to 4096 x 2160/60P 4:2:2 YCBCR 12-bit.
Features optimised for outdoor use
The PVM-X2400 is designed specifically for outdoor use, with a lightweight construction and handles (included) for transport. The 24 V DC operation enables outdoor use, despite the 24" screen size and the monitor's high luminance of 1000 cd/m2. An optional protective screen* protects the premium LCD screen from accidental impact. Bracket mounting is also supported. Operation is further enhanced with false colour and camera focus features**. The False Colour function assigns different colours to the incoming signal for different exposure levels, providing a quick and effective tool for checking exposure. The Focus Assist function displays incoming images with sharper image contours to help determine the camera's focus. The sharper image contours can be displayed in different colours that the user selects. In this way, even more precise focusing is possible.
* The optional protective screen cannot be used with the monitor to protect the screen from the heat of the black level.
** Firmware update V3.0 will be available from a later date. Firmware V1.0 can be updated to V2.0 or higher via the USB port of the monitor.
