The PVM-X3200 model is a 32" high-end 4K HDR image monitor with a Sony-specified premium LCD display that offers 1000 cd/m2 luminance and color matching with the BVM-HX310 4K HDR reference monitor. This facilitates group monitoring on set, in the studio and OB van, and in 19" EIA racks for editing, sound mixing, etc.
TRIMASTER ensures accurate color reproduction, precise imaging, and consistent picture quality.
Sony's renowned TRIMASTER architecture provides accurate color reproduction, precise imaging and consistent picture quality. The panel's operation and signal processing system offers many advantages, such as fast processing, accurate linearization of an input signal with optical electrical transfer function, accurate color reproduction, etc.
Support for HDR-SDR conversion
With the optional PVML-HSX1 HDR-SDR conversion license, the PVM-X3200 supports HDR-SDR conversion in live production environments. The license enables: 4K HD downconversion, color space conversion, OETF conversion, progressive to interlace conversion, and quad-link 3G to single-link 12G conversion. It also enables output of converted images to other 4K or HD monitors via Enhanced Monitor Output. This feature enables local or remote monitoring of converted signals.
User 3D LUT signal output support.
The optional PVML-HSX1 HDR SDR conversion license also supports output of signals with applied user 3D LUTs to other 4K/HD devices via Enhanced Monitor Output, enabling efficient workflows in live production, cinema, series, commercials, music, and documentaries.
SR Live metadata
SR Live metadata support allows you to adjust the PVM-X3200 monitor settings to match the incoming signal. You can also confirm the SR Live metadata parameters for an incoming SDI signal in the Status menu. This optimizes the use of the monitor in SR Live workflows.
Dynamic Contrast Drive and Black Details High/Medium/Low
Dynamic Contrast Drive is a new backlight control system that dynamically changes the luminance of the backlight to adapt to changing content. This allows you to check the overall balance of highlights and dark lights at a glance. The feature can be used to reproduce the representations of black in dark content such as night scenes and provide specular highlights in bright content such as snow and beach scenes. The Dynamic Contrast Drive function provides a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.
Due to the nature of LCD panels, some backlight leakage is inevitable. To compensate for this, the Black Detail mode High/Medium/Low facilitates more accurate monitoring of details in dark areas of the image. Black level is reduced, but gamma is maintained for proper color and gray levels. However, due to the dynamic range of the monitor, areas of high luminance are clipped. Any clipped parts can be displayed as clipped or highlighted with a zebra pattern.
Inputs from 12G-SDI and Quad-Link 3G-SDI to HD-SDI as well as HDMI
The PVM-X3200 provides 12G-SDI inputs and can receive quad-link 3G-SDI and simple HD-SDI for conventional devices. The monitor also supports an HDMI port for displaying inputs with signal formats ranging from 640 x 480/60P PC to 4096 x 2160/60P 4:2:2 YCBCR 12-bit.
Various scopes
Oscilloscope and vectorscope can be displayed simultaneously with scales for HDR and SDR, and support signal verification of both input signal level and output luminance. There are three different displays for luminance, RGB/YCBCR parade or RGB overlay with color space error indication. The waveform of a particular line input can also be displayed.
In addition, with future firmware, a color scale display will be available that maps the colors in the CIE1931 standard chart with the standard color space area display.
* This firmware update will be available from a later date. The schedule for this has not yet been determined and will be announced separately. Firmware V2.0 can be updated via the monitor's USB port.
Unique Quad View Display with User 3D LUT
The PVM-X3200 offers a quad-view display with individual settings for EOTF (SDR/HDR), color space, transmission matrix, color temperature, contrast, brightness, SDI/HDMI, RGB/YCBCR, and user 3D LUTs for each display view.
It also supports the display of measurement ranges when monitoring in triple or dual image mode.
