The Sony ILME-FX5 is a compact full-frame Cinema Line camera with E-mount and a detachable XLR handle unit. Its multi-layer Exmor RS CMOS sensor (35.9 × 24.0 mm, 16.6 MP effective) and the BIONZ XR2 processor with AI processing deliver more than 15 stops of dynamic range and enable recording up to 5K 120p and 4K 240p* — including full-frame open gate (3:2). The camera records 16-bit RAW internally in the X-OCN format (LT, C1, C2), alongside XAVC HS/H.265 and XAVC S/H.264 as well as S-Cinetone, S-Log3, S-Gamut3 and S-Gamut3.Cine for grading. Three base ISO settings (800/4,000/12,800) with dual-gain technology keep noise low even in dim light, while the fast hybrid autofocus with up to 759 phase-detection points recognises humans, animals and birds. The supplied XLR handle unit adds two XLR/TRS inputs and up to four audio channels at 96 kHz/32-bit float. With 5-axis image stabilisation, a 4-axis touch display, two CFexpress Type A/SDXC slots, HDMI RAW output, 2.5 Gbit LAN, Wi-Fi (2.4/5/6 GHz) and streaming via RTMP, RTMPS and SRT, the FX5 is equally suited to documentary, commercial and corporate work as well as live and remote productions.
